Deputy Director, Water Prediction Operations Division

This position is located in the National Weather Service (NWS), Office of Water Prediction (OWP), Water Prediction Operations Division (WPOD), with one vacancy in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Responsibilities- Provide data services, geospatial analyses and hydrologic expertise to support science and engineering development, systems implementation and water resources operations on a continental scale.
- Apply program policy and coordinate the inter-relationship of National Weather Service (NWS) Centers, Regional River Forecast Centers (RFCs), and Local Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs) who play a role in the provision of forecasts, watch, warning and advisory products; and apply understanding of the Federal multi-agency distribution of responsibilities for water observations, science, forecasting and management.
- Develop and implement detailed strategic planning, programming, and operational plans to improve or enhance overall operations of programs and systems.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.
- Selectee may be subject to serving a one-year probationary period.
- A one year supervisory probationary period may be required (Probationary periods may be served concurrently).
