Controller Assistant

Shattuck Labs, Inc. is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounting department, including financial close process, accounts payable, payroll, and purchasing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with a minimum of 8 years of experience and 3 years of management experience. A B.S. in Accounting or Finance, with CPA certification, is preferred.
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the accounting department and ensuring accurate financial accounting results
- Implementing and maintaining financial software and systems
- Reviewing and approving manual journal entries
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and complex accrual models
- Ensuring controls are designed, operating effectively, and properly documented in accordance with SOX 404 standards
- Providing monthly accounting management reporting
- Assisting with annual audit and quarterly reviews and tax compliance
- Overseeing accounting IT systems to ensure efficient accounting operations
- Partnering with departments outside of accounting to ensure seamless collaboration
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage, lead, and mentor the accounting team. Familiarity with NetSuite and the healthcare industry is a plus.
