Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at Sorenson Communications. As a vital member of our Video Relay Service (VRS), you will provide high-quality interpreting services between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English, enabling seamless communication for Deaf individuals and hearing individuals.

About the Role

">

This is a full-time or part-time position available in the US and Canada. The successful candidate will have excellent interpreting skills, a strong understanding of ASL, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will be required to maintain compliance with national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements, as applicable.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • ">
  • Effectively interpreting between ASL and spoken English">
  • Maintaining compliance with Sorenson standards and policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct">
  • Demonstrating a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the VRS industry">
  • Possessing the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies">
  • Working effectively in a team environment, receiving support from and providing support to colleagues">
  • Educating yourself on new technologies and enhancing your interpreting skills through continued education training">
  • Demonstrating willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an ongoing basis">

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • ">
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent">
  • Have interpreter certification">
  • Have 3 years' experience working as an interpreter (preferred but not required)">
  • Be able to pass our required skills assessment">
  • Able to troubleshoot basic technical issues">
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components">
  • Regular and predictable attendance">
