Job Title: Clinical Practice Specialist RN
Job Summary:
The Clinical Practice Specialist RN is a key member of our team, responsible for ensuring quality clinical practice and professional development at the front-line. This role leads efforts to develop and implement education opportunities for staff, supports staff in seeking and maintaining specialty certification, and participates in review of unit/division dashboard to identify opportunities for improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Quality: Develops and implements education opportunities for staff, supports staff in seeking and maintaining specialty certification, and participates in review of unit/division dashboard to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Culture of Safety: Plans, implements, and evaluates division-specific learning activities to improve safety, unit-based clinical policy and procedure review/updating, and provides input into staff evaluations as related to clinical competence.
- Evidence-based Practice/Research: Identifies opportunities to mentor and implement EBP projects, including unit/division order sets and practice guidelines, and assists in interpreting research findings and developing strategies for implementation of results into evidenced-based clinical practice guidelines.
- Leadership: Attends unit-based staff meetings, attends unit-based shared leadership meeting and clinical nurse leadership council, and participates in off-unit committee/project team as appropriate.
- Fiscal Stewardship: Evaluates new products to make recommendations to value-based purchasing committee, makes recommendations for improvements in clinical efficiency in partnership with operational manager, and uses organizational and unit/department resources efficiently.
- Annual Competency/Orientation/Retention: Leads content review/revision for unit-based orientation annually, actively participates in new employee orientation, and collaborates with unit manager to evaluate progress towards staff completion of education plan.
- Education: Provides informal unit-based education based on unit learning needs assessment, provides formal classroom instruction and skills assessments, and maintains visibility on all shifts and serves as resource to off-shift staff.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master's in Science in Nursing or to obtain within 4 years of assuming role, Registered Nursing license issued by the State of Illinois, Certified in related clinical area or to obtain when eligible, 3-5 years' experience in specific clinical area, and BLS through American Heart Association.
