Job Opportunity

Lancaster General Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality patient care and services in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Clinical Guidance: Offer expert clinical guidance to patients via phone or electronic correspondence, utilizing clinical judgment and triage protocols in accordance with regulatory requirements and standards of practice.
  • Patient Education and Support: Provide personalized education and support to patients on preventive care, chronic disease management, acute diagnoses, medications, and other areas pertinent to patient outcomes.
  • Room Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare patients for visits by utilizing appropriate rooming standards tools and maintain a clean and organized exam room environment.
  • Medication Administration and Management: Administer injections and medications as prescribed by providers and in accordance with department protocols, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice.
  • Procedure Assistance and Support: Assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and other exams as designated by providers.
  • Point of Care Testing and Specimen Collection: Perform Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests, and collect blood or other laboratory specimens and prepare them for further testing.
  • Prescription Refills and Test Tracking: Authorize prescription refills as instructed by providers and assist with test tracking and monitoring overdue results.
  • Wound Care and Exam Room Maintenance: Remove sutures and change dressings on wounds as necessary and ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit.
  • Care Coordination and Proactive Outreach: Assist providers and patients in reviewing and revising care plans and assess patient progress, follow up with patients between visits as necessary, and assist with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Referral Coordination and Performance Improvement: Assist in coordination of referrals, education, and community resources and actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care.
  • Daily Huddles and Patient Advocacy: Participate in daily huddles with providers and serve as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence at all times when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Confidentiality and Compliance: Handle all patient information in a confidential manner according to Lancaster General Health privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Front Office Support and Regional Travel: Perform various front office responsibilities as necessary and may require some regional travel - valid driver's license is required if traveling.
  • On-Call Responsibilities and Other Duties: Participate in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Completion of a LPN or a RN educational program and current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
  • Certification and Travel: AHA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire and ability to travel to multiple sites is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nursing Experience and Specialty Experience: One (1) to Two (2) years of nursing experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office and prior triage, emergency room, cardiac care, intensive care, or other related specialty nursing experience.
