Job Summary

This is a key leadership role within the Financial Accounting and Reporting team at Elevance Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading month-close functions, including reviewing and approving journal entries, reconciliations, and related reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-close functions, including reviewing and approving journal entries, reconciliations, and related reporting.
  • May lead teams of associates and review and approve complex accounting and financial analysis based on trend, plan, and forecast.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document new or revised accounting processes, procedures, systems, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Ensure requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley are being met.
  • Mentor, train, and coach lower-level accountants.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 6 years of experience in general accounting, finance, or budgeting and planning, or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience working in an accounting or finance role within a large corporate organization.
  • Experience providing coaching and feedback on work deliverables.
  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Previous work experience with month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and federal government contracting accounting principles.

Work Environment

We operate in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Unless specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
