Cyber Security Engineer

Verily is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cybersecurity Detection and Response Engineer to join our Security Operations team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, a passion for threat hunting, and experience with various security tools and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead or actively participate in the investigation of security incidents, analyzing alerts, identifying the root cause, and implementing containment measures.
- Use SIEM tools and other security platforms to monitor network traffic, systems, and applications for suspicious activity or potential threats.
- Proactively search for indicators of compromise or hidden threats that may not be detected by traditional security tools, requiring in-depth knowledge of attack techniques and threat actor behaviors.
- Manage and maintain security tools like firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection platforms, including configuration and tuning for optimal performance.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
- Strong understanding of network security concepts, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and logging capabilities.
- Familiarity with common security protocols and standards, as well as a working understanding of common attack methodology.
- Experience with cloud security platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
