Salary: $117,676 - $143,000 per year

Job Description:

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our accounting operations and supplier division, you will be responsible for performing complex accounting duties, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in providing directives and training to enhance operation efficiencies
  • Reviewing, analyzing, inputting, and posting citywide and departmental accounting transactions
  • Participating in year-end closing activities and analyses
  • Monitoring fund expenditure projections to actual, identifying and resolving spending issues
  • Providing management with status reports on accounting and financial activity
  • Presenting and explaining accounting activity to financial and non-financial managers, co-workers, and suppliers

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • Four years of professional accounting experience, including analysis or problem-solving, working with an automated financial system (preferably a government system), and preparing financial records and reports
