Franklin County is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Prosecuting Attorney to serve as the Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. As a key member of the Prosecuting Attorney's office, this individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective administration of justice within the county.

About the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the legal operations of the assigned division, including resources and employees, according to current department and county practices. This position requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to analyze complex legal problems and develop effective case strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct, evaluate, and continuously improve the overall administration of the assigned division.
  • Screen cases and coordinate staff assignments, researching and documenting complex cases and negotiating with defense attorneys.
  • Provide case management assistance to Deputy Attorneys, defining issues, negotiating, and developing trial strategy.
  • Provide legal advice and information to county departments, elected officials, and civic groups, using verbal presentations and written documentation.
  • Oversee the creation, development, and maintenance of systems and records, utilizing computerized and manual systems to ensure proper evaluation, control, and documentation of assigned operations.
Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess:

  • A Juris Doctor Degree.
  • Three years' experience as a senior prosecuting attorney preparing and prosecuting both criminal and civil cases.
  • Expert knowledge of modern principles, methods, and practices in criminal and/or civil law and related local statutes, ordinances, case law, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to analyze complex legal problems and develop effective case strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience. Franklin County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
