Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist Diagnostic to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a Diagnostic Radiography Technologist, you will be responsible for administering ionizing radiation to humans of all ages for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of a procedure and demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique.
  • Utilize knowledge of radiation protection and safety and serve as the primary liaison between patients, licensed independent practitioners, and other members of the support team.
  • Remain sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, assessment, monitoring, and care skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement processes and continuous assessment of performance.
  • Think critically and use independent, professional, and ethical judgment in all aspects of work.
  • Engage in continuing education to enhance patient care, public education, knowledge, and technical competence.
Requirements
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT-R)
  • Current Certification by ARRT Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
  • One year of previous work experience
  • Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment is preferred
  • Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology that is recognized by the ARRT
  • Bachelors Degree in Radiologic Technology or closely related field from an accredited program is preferred
Working Conditions

This role participates in a fast-paced environment and requires the ability to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, and adapt to frequent change.

The Radiologic Technologist Diagnostic must be able to lift 20-50 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, and interact with computers for extended periods.

The ideal candidate will have strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving skills, and be able to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
