Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Management Specialist to join our team in the Student Records and Registration Office. This role will play a critical part in overseeing the management, integrity, and security of institutional data, ensuring accurate, timely, and insightful data analysis to support academic and administrative operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data Management and Governance:
    • Develop and implement data management policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency.
    • Oversee the collection, storage, and retrieval of institutional data, including student records, faculty information, and financial data.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and leader within the Registration and Student Records Office, along with the Registrar and Associate Registrar, with respect to Workday.
    • Collaborate with the Office of Information Technology and other departments to ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA).
    • Establish and maintain data governance structures, including data ownership and stewardship roles.
  • Data Analysis, Records Management and Reporting:
    • Conduct data analysis to support institutional decision-making, research, and reporting.
    • Develop and maintain data reports and dashboards to monitor key performance indicators and trends.
    • Provide data-driven insights to inform strategic planning and operational improvements.
  • System Management and Integration:
    • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of student information systems (SIS) and other data management systems.
    • Manage data integrations and data flows between various systems to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Evaluate and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations related to data privacy, security, and reporting.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, data science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in higher education administration, with a focus on data management and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, including data quality, security, and governance.
