Nurse Corps Officer - Medical Mental Health

Join the Navy Nurse Corps and serve your country by providing high-quality nursing care to those in need. As a Nurse Corps Officer, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, from Navy medical facilities and ships to humanitarian aid missions overseas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide general nursing care for Sailors, Marines, and their families at Navy medical facilities
  • Direct and instruct Hospital Corpsmen on how to provide quality patient care
  • Apply leading-edge medical advances at world-class hospitals
  • Utilize advanced technology, such as RFID, to improve patient care
  • Assist with global relief efforts, such as distributing vaccines or providing emergency care to victims of natural disasters
Specialization Opportunities:
  • Nurse Anesthetists - Administer general and regional anesthesia, monitor patients receiving anesthesia, and assist in instructing medical trainees
  • Primary Care Nurse Practitioners - Provide comprehensive health care and health maintenance for service members and their families
  • Medical-Surgical Nurses - Assess, plan, and implement direct nursing care of patients on an assigned unit
  • Perioperative Nurses - Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care of surgery patients
  • Critical Care Nurses - Provide highly skilled, specialized nursing care to critical patients
  • Mental Health Nurses and Nurse Practitioners - Provide direct patient care in mental health services

Requirements:
  • A degree from a four-year college or university
  • Currently licensed and practicing nursing in the U.S.
  • In good standing with a CCNE-accredited U.S. education program granting a Bachelor of Science degree
  • In good physical condition and able to pass a full medical examination
