Job Summary

As a Network Engineer at SEL, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving knowledge of power systems communications, analyzing customer requirements, and creating technical approach documents. You will also be responsible for helping customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses, and telephone contact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve knowledge of power systems communications, including fiber optic, microwave, and spread-spectrum radio, and wired protection and control network communications systems.
  • Analyze customer requirements and create technical approach documents detailing hardware requirements and configurations with various solutions.
  • Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses, and telephone contact.
  • Apply principles, theories, standard techniques, and concepts to provide solutions to a variety of problems.
  • Contribute to product specifications, application and testing software, and literature.
  • Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities, industry technical meetings, and conferences.
  • Teach SEL University courses within core area.
  • Publish application guides, notes, template guides, software tools, and/or technical conference papers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer/Network related area.
  • Typically 1+ years of experience in power systems, industry practices, and communications.
  • Ability to write and speak English coherently.
  • Listens carefully; provides positive, helpful, and professional communication to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.
  • Takes on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks. Experiments to find new solutions.
  • Creates a positive and motivating working environment for all.
  • Hands-on experience supporting multi-vendor platforms (Cisco, SEL, etc.).
  • Ability to travel (30%).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using SEL products.
  • Knowledge of Network security technologies and solutions, ensuring network security and integrity.
