Technical Director for Cloud-Based Program Management

About the team: As a Technical Director of Program Management, you'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for building robust platforms on mobile and web surfaces that deliver exceptional customer experiences. These foundational blocks will enable Capital One's various lines of business (credit card, retail banking, auto finance) to create delightful experiences for our customers.
In addition to leading technical programs, you'll also contribute to the growth and development of the TPM discipline within the team. Your industry expertise and experience will help educate the organization on the value of effective TPM practices.
Our TPM Directors possess:
- A strong technical background, with the ability to identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent problem-solving and influencing skills
- A quantitative approach to problem-solving and a collaborative mindset to implement holistic solutions
- Experience as a TPM leader to grow and develop a team of TPMs while building the foundations for the TPM practice
- The ability to simplify complex technical concepts and drive informed decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science stakeholders
- A deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results
- Exceptional cross-team collaboration and the ability to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to achieve goals
This role requires:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Software Engineering)
- At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
- 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS
- 3+ years of experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms
- 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery
- 3+ years of experience delivering large and complex programs - where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables, and unblock teams to land business impact
- Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment
- MBA or Master's Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience
This position offers a competitive salary range of $233,100 - $266,000 for the Director, Technical Program Management role in New York City. This figure may vary based on location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
