Job Summary

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all types of company-owned vehicles, including gasoline, diesel, electric, and propane-powered units. This role requires strong diagnostic and repair skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
    • Perform computer diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions
    • Develop and implement repair plans to ensure efficient and effective maintenance
  • DOT Inspections and Performance Evaluation
    • Conduct regular DOT inspections to ensure compliance with regulations
    • Evaluate the performance of all drive train components, including diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks
  • Specialized Repair Services
    • Repair and maintain air/electric/hydraulic brake and valve systems
    • Install, adjust, or align wheels and wheel components, including bearings and air brake systems
  • Adherence to Safety Protocols
    • Adhere to strict safe working practices and company policies
    • Correct obvious hazards immediately or report to supervisor if not immediately correctable
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum 3+ years of diesel mechanical experience or training
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Strong communication skills, both internally and externally
    • Current CDL and TWIC card (may be required for travel)
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle large tools
    • Basic understanding of OSHA, Fire Protection regulations, and fall protection
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb on and off equipment, ascend and descend ladders
  • Ability to stand, kneel, or crawl for extended periods
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including high temperatures, cool/cold temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain, fog, hail, sleet, and snow
