Job Title: Title Clerk

The Title Clerk plays a crucial role in the Department of Motor Vehicles, ensuring the smooth processing of vehicle ownership documents. This position requires excellent customer service skills, as the Title Clerk must provide timely and professional service to customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare tax and title documents for new and used vehicles, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify funding has been collected before submitting title applications for processing.
  • Check for accuracy in the application and ensure that all information is complete.
  • Submit all legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Maintain a system to verify out-of-state title work has been processed/submitted.
  • Compile and maintain a complete list of all outstanding title work, reporting to the Director on the status of any missing or problem titles.
  • Sign over titles for all wholesaler transactions and prepare a monthly report to management of any incomplete wholesale transactions.
  • Prepare stock cards for new and used vehicles.
  • Engage in ongoing educational opportunities to update job knowledge and stay current with title regulations and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to speak both English and Spanish.
  • 1-2 years of experience in accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clerical processing.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite and database software.
  • Ability to work a set schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed related to monthly processing duties.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License or equivalent.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Willing to submit to a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
