Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Porter to join our team at Homes for the Homeless, Inc. in Staten Island, NY. As a Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for our families in the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning and custodial duties in common areas of the facility.
  • Assist in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and cafeteria.
  • Ensure cleaning supplies are stocked.
  • Vacuum, sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered machines.
  • Clean and turnover units.
  • Dust and disinfect furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Assist in examining the building for safety hazards and report deficiencies to the Director of Building Operations.
  • Perform limited grounds maintenance, such as mowing and cleaning snow from sidewalks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 60 pounds at a time.
