Job Description

Gallo is seeking a highly skilled Market Development Manager to join our dedicated team and maximize the sale and distribution of our esteemed brands in retail accounts.

This role is integral in executing our sales and marketing strategies, understanding distributor deal structures, and identifying competitive pricing opportunities to drive market growth.

As a Market Development Manager, you will spend 80% of your time working closely with distributor personnel to execute monthly programs, close gaps, and deliver points of distribution.

Your strategic planning skills will be crucial in maximizing sales and growing Gallo brands, making informed decisions to allocate time and resources effectively.

You will also train and coach distributor sales representatives and district managers, ensuring they are well-equipped to achieve performance goals and objectives.

Your role will involve gathering and analyzing market intelligence, identifying opportunities, and sharing insights with management to further enhance Gallo's market presence.

You will assist the State Manager in maintaining consistent retail prices and support recruiting efforts in key universities when needed.

Additionally, you will motivate distributor management and salespeople, coordinate with the local Shopper Marketing team, and reinforce Gallo standards through periodic communication.

As a Gallo Ambassador, you will advocate for our brands, host events, and promote sales within the community.

Strong negotiation skills will be essential in setting monthly objectives and sales incentives with distributor leadership.

Building positive working relationships at all levels and controlling business expenses are also critical aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to drive market growth and maximize sales.
  • Work closely with distributor personnel to execute monthly programs, close gaps, and deliver points of distribution.
  • Train and coach distributor sales representatives and district managers to ensure they are well-equipped to achieve performance goals and objectives.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence to identify opportunities and share insights with management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Or Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of CPG sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Or High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record, and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire.
  • This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving.
  • Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
  • Required to travel by air and car in order to execute job functions.
  • Required to see, taste, and smell wine and perform wine tastings as part of job functions.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to travel by air and automobile up to 25% during the course of business.
  • Experience demonstrating strong leadership selling, time management, public speaking skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Spirits Development Specialist, Spirits Development Specialist Sr, Business Intelligence Analyst Sr, Market Development Manager, Market Development Manager Sr, or Account Manager 1.
  • Or Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of external alcohol sales experience to include retail experience.
  • Experience selling or marketing Gallo brands.

Compensation:

Hiring salary range posted: $84,645- $127,015/ year

Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
