Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a skilled Distribution Engineer to join our Power Delivery Services Team in Michigan. As a Distribution Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for our electric utility customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems
  • Collect field data to assist in developing work packages
  • Review work provided by clients and assess requirements of scopes
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis and voltage drop calculations
  • Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for customer-related travel
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Candidates with relevant experience will be preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc, or similar
  • Experience with NESC Standards, ESRI, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation, and GIS
  • Structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations
