Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Derrick Hand with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to join our team at Steel Energy. As a Derrick Hand, you will play a critical role in the safe operation of our workover rigs, ensuring the efficient and effective completion of oil and gas well services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work safely in the rig derrick to transfer rod sections to and from derrick racks to rod lifting clamps.
  • Climb ladders attached to the side of the derrick to the rod platform.
  • Operate the rod hoist using a control pedal or communicate with the crew operator.
  • Attach transfer devices to rods to disconnect rod clamps.
  • Guide tubing sections from tubing rack slots to the tubing platform.
  • Align tubing sections perpendicularly over the well bore to assist in the connection of tubing sections and prevent damage to the treads of tubing sections.
  • Occasionally operate the pump to circulate fluid or mud into the well bore.
  • Occasionally connect well head attachments, load tools, and perform similar duties.
Requirements
  • Available to work beyond the traditional 8-hour workday, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, to meet operational needs.
  • Dependability is imperative, with a focus on reporting for work at the prescribed location and time, dressed for deployment to work.
  • Ability to work at heights up to or greater than 50 feet.

The Derrick Hand will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to heights, loud noises, and varying weather conditions. The ability to work safely and effectively in these conditions is essential.
