Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Information Retrieval Lead to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our organization, you will lead a team of scientists responsible for developing and improving information retrieval models that power our intelligent assistant products.

About the Role:

This is a leadership position where you will be responsible for driving the development of novel retrieval and ranking models, partnering closely with engineering teams to improve model performance, and coaching and developing the team. You will also work closely with content acquisition and LLM client teams to ensure dependencies are met and value is delivered to end customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and improving information retrieval models to deliver improved signal to retrieval and ranking models
  • Partnering closely with engineering teams to improve model performance and deploy new features
  • Coaching and developing the team to drive scientific rigor and excellence
  • Working with content acquisition and LLM client teams to ensure dependencies are met and value is delivered to end customers
  • Developing a science roadmap to accelerate delivery of customer impact

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience managing scientists or machine learning engineers
  • Experience building information retrieval or recommendation systems
  • Experience developing and deploying machine learning systems into production
  • Strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
