PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The individual in this role will perform their duties in a clean, well-lit, temperature-controlled, and well-ventilated environment. This position involves interaction with controlled substances and various pharmaceutical products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the pharmacist to ensure exceptional pharmaceutical care.
  • Assist the pharmacist, under their direct supervision, in the preparation of prescriptions.
  • Welcome and provide customers with prompt and courteous service.
  • Utilize pharmacy systems, including registers, software, and telecommunication devices.
  • Help maintain third-party prescription records and resolve any rejected claims.
  • Keep an insurance/counseling log updated.
  • Enhance sales through superior customer service.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Order, stock, and manage pharmacy inventory through the appropriate suppliers.
  • Maintain pharmacy department supplies (e.g., bottles, bags, labels, staples, etc.).
  • Gather necessary information on written prescriptions or phone refill requests from customers.
  • Organize filing systems for invoices, manual insurance claims, daily reports, etc.
  • Communicate specific messages to customers from the technician or pharmacist handling prescriptions.
  • Support company safety standards and report any required equipment repairs or maintenance.
  • Work with the Pharmacy Manager, Store Manager, and pharmacy staff to implement marketing strategies.
  • Assist in processing pharmacy expirations and credits, ensuring inventory is free from outdated products.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Store Manager.
  • Comply with all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Must possess Pharmacy Technician Certification from an accredited organization.
  • Proven ability in effective communication and customer relations.
  • Unrestricted capability to manage and process Medicaid and Medicare prescriptions.
  • Willingness to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and other health professionals.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that aligns with a dynamic retail environment.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently, with skills in reading, writing, and basic math.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding customer and company information.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy inventory control procedures, including specific requirements for controlled substances.
  • Understanding of the Pharmacy Standard Practice Manual.
  • Share responsibility for maintaining department cleanliness and organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Some minor lifting (less than 25 lbs.) is necessary. The employee will be required to stand for extended periods during their shift.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
