Medical Laboratory Scientist II

ProMedica Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex analytical procedures, recognizing deviations, and providing interpretation following established standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Perform testing, maintaining established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and complying with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
- Process biological specimens for analysis, evaluate and solve problems related to specimen collection and processing, and perform routine and complex analytical procedures.
- Operate instruments and perform procedures within the scope of training, and maintain accurate quality control records.
- Act as a liaison and foster effective communication between the laboratory and healthcare team, maintaining patient confidentiality, and answer inquiries regarding results and factors affecting results.
- Perform routine inquiry and data input on the laboratory computer systems, ensure accuracy of information, and utilize computer software to enhance specialty areas.
- Doctoral, Master's or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS.
- Certification as an American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLS or Categorical eligible at time of hire with certification achieved within one year of hire.

Must be able to move continuously about the hospital and between workstations, and prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to tolerate exposure to disease-bearing specimens, odorous chemicals, carcinogens, mutagens, low-level radiation, electrical hazards, and flammable liquids.
Must be able to differentiate colors, move, lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs., 5% of the time, and stand continuously for the entire shift. Must be able to input and retrieve information from a computer.
