About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Central Office Network Specialist to join our team at Lumen Technologies. This is a key role that involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex network equipment in various Central Offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain subscriber loop carrier systems, DSL, POTS, GPON/PRISM, digital and optical muxes, and other network equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance, analyze defects, test, adjust, repair, and maintain complex equipment such as switching systems, circuit equipment, network terminal equipment, and data/digital equipment
  • Update work and maintenance logs through WFA, Word.docs, and FOMS databases
  • Plan jobs and determine materials and resources needed to complete tasks
  • Review and interpret work orders, wiring lists, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings and follow standard practices in the performance of job duties
  • Utilize knowledge of general input and analysis of ESS translations
  • Run diagnostic test programs, analyze defects and/or test various types of telephone switching equipment (5ESS, Electronic Data Switching, etc.), use various types of testing devices, e.g. volt-ohm meters, spectrum analyzer, digital communications, data analyzers, etc.
Requirements
  • At least six months experience within the last five years diagnosing circuit trouble, and performing routine testing, including measuring AC/DC current using volt ohm meters, TMS, or comparable test equipment
  • At least six months experience within the last five years provisioning and maintaining POTS, DSO, DS1/T1, DS3/T3, DSL ISDN, and fiber circuits or services
  • Must be proficient in 5ESS Switch maintenance and routines Working knowledge of IOF, SONET/DWDM equipment and services (e.g. DCS and optical muxes)
  • Requires a valid state driver's license with current satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to work varying shifts and hours including possible cuts, callouts, mandatory overtime, weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 12 months experience within the last five years diagnosing circuit trouble, and performing routine testing, including measuring AC/DC current using volt ohm meters, TDR, or comparable test equipment
  • At least 12 months experience within the last five years provisioning and maintaining POTS, DSO, DS1/T1, DS3/T3, DSL, ISDN, and fiber circuits or services
  • Experience working with 5ESS switches is preferred
  • Extensive experience including ROADM, Infinera, QMOE, IP Ethernet
  • AFC experience
  • Certification or equivalent training in the maintenance and operation of AFC (DLC), Calix DSL systems, Adtran (DLC), Fujitsu (FO Transport), and Alcatel DSL systems
  • Experience working independently with little supervision

Compensation Package

The estimated salary range for this role is between $70,000 and $100,000 per year, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. This amount includes base salary, bonuses, and benefits.
