Patient Care Technician I PRN Day Shift

About the Role:
The University of Texas at Tyler seeks a highly skilled Patient Care Technician I to support our healthcare team in providing exceptional patient care. As a valued member of our team, you will work alongside licensed nurses to deliver top-notch care in a safe and supportive environment.
This role requires basic knowledge and skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues alike. You will be responsible for recording data, reporting observations and concerns to licensed nurses, and assisting with non-nursing functions such as vital sign collection and specimen collection for lab tests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, and eating
- Collect specimens for lab tests and assist with monitoring patients
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by following infection control and patient care policies
- Aptly utilize and charge supplies used in patient care, ensuring cost-effective care
- Deliver therapeutic interventions to populations served under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
Requirements:
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
- Completion of approved certified nursing assistant course preferred
- Active certification within the State of Texas, preferred
- Training, education, and competencies completed annually for additional duties
Estimated Salary Range: $32,000 - $42,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
