Job Title: Project Manager EV Charging Deployment

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead the planning, management, and execution of Electric Vehicle (EV) fast charging projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in utility coordination, site design, and construction, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to execute EV projects within scope, budget, and defined timeframes.
  • Review and understand EV project-specific contracts to ensure processes and procedures meet defined expectations.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to generate EV charging construction drawings and reviews to ensure they meet customer/project specifications.
  • Serve as the main point of contact with utility companies to submit applications for service and manage the utility upgrade process.
  • Research, review, and complete AHJ applications and submit drawings to local permitting agencies prior to construction.
  • Review electrical equipment submittals with the engineering team and procure major electrical and charging equipment from external vendors.
  • Create and review Request for Proposals (RFPs) for construction and review competitive bids for competency, value, and execution to recommend General Contractor selection.
  • Update and coordinate internal and external factors to manage the project schedule on a timely basis.
  • Schedule and host meetings with customers to keep open lines of communication with the project team and serve as the focal point of contact.
  • Bi-weekly review of project budgets, including Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) on all projects.
  • Manage the submittal and Request for Information (RFI) process with support from the engineering and construction team.
  • Negotiate with utilities, contractors, and customers to reach acceptable technical and economic solutions.
  • Oversee construction phase with periodic site visits, regular communication to the customer, and coordination with the design and engineering team to identify, solve, and execute issues/problems to avoid project schedule and cost creep.
  • Provide financial project review and support with final project closeout documentation.
Requirements:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent and 4-year bachelor's degree required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction Management, or relevant field with experience in Project Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in EV charging project management, utility coordination, site design, and construction.
  • 5+ years in managing multi-faceted EV projects including technical, execution, and financial aspects.
  • 5+ years' experience working with local project AHJ, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency or familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Demonstrated background in leading charging network deployment.
  • Detailed understanding of the current public fast charging landscape.
Skills and Physical Demands:
  • Efficient, detail-oriented, extremely organized, able to multi-task and prioritize activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to build constructive relationships with customers, business units, service organizations, and other stakeholders to meet shared goals and objectives.
  • Excellent negotiation, time-management, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to function in, and successfully manage in a demanding environment.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative, able to lead a team of people to accomplish set tasks and goals.
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for best solutions.
Physical Demands:
  • Travel required, approximately 50%.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
