Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electronics Assembly Technician to join our team at Kratos Unmanned Systems. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing basic and routine electronic and mechanical assembly operations on components, printed circuit boards, and subassemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work independently or as part of a team to assemble and install electro-mechanical hardware on unmanned ground vehicle systems.
  • Position and align parts in specified relationships to each other and mount assembled components on panels or circuit boards.
  • Route electrical cables and wiring, connect and adjust mechanical linkages, mount brackets and electronic enclosures, and all other associated parts and components in a neat and organized manner.
  • Cut and drill into sheet metal or plastic of vehicles as required to facilitate installation of hardware while striving to be minimally invasive and avoid collateral damage to the greatest extent possible.
  • Work independently or as a team to convert conventional ground vehicles, typically medium to large utility trucks and tractor-trailers from unmanned to unmanned operation by installing company's proprietary electro-mechanical control system hardware using a wide array of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, specifications, work orders to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
  • Capture and record installation procedures in a comprehensive and cohesive manner such that other personnel may be able to duplicate and repeat the installation process as you've documented.
  • Travel to customer's sites within the U.S. or to Europe to perform vehicle surveys, system installations and follow-on testing as needed, oftentimes outdoors, and for a span of a few days to a few weeks.
  • Support control system integration and testing after the installation process.
  • Communicate technical information effectively, both written and verbally, with other Production and Engineering personnel.
  • Support program development by recommending design improvements.
  • Manage job assignments and provide accurate job status reports to the Production Supervisor and/or the Program Engineer as required.
  • Operate medium to large-sized utility trucks and tractor-trailers.
  • Perform any other work-related tasks as directed by Supervisor.
Requirements
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate level of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • 1-2 years experience with automotive, aircraft mechanical, electrical repair, or system installation.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Experience driving Class 8 trucks or have the ability to pass DOT physical and obtain (at company's expense) endorsement for Class 8 trucks desired.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
  • Production and office environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time or work extended hours as necessary.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (use of arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, manual dexterity for small parts assembly, frequent use).
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL (at company's expense) to allow driving of large utility trucks and Class 8 (tractor-trailer) trucks desired.
  • Must be physically capable of maneuvering around the inside of various types of vehicles to access tight spaces, often outdoors in unconditioned air, in the performance of your duties.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision and work well with co-workers.
  • Travel up to 25%.
  • Ability to travel by air or motor vehicle for work purposes.
  • Possess a passport or be willing and able to obtain (at company's expense) to allow for work travel overseas.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
