Physical Therapy Assistant

Cayuga Health System is committed to providing high-quality care to our patients. We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team in an outpatient setting.
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work closely with a licensed Physical Therapist to provide physical therapy treatments to patients in accordance with written prescriptions or referrals from physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer physical therapy interventions per patient's Plan of Care (POC) and communicate with the Physical Therapist regarding patient status changes and response to treatment.
- Assist patients in performing physical activities, such as therapeutic exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and the use of assistive and supportive devices.
- Administer physical therapy modalities, such as mechanical traction, hot/cold packs, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation, for pain control, neuromuscular re-education, and functional improvements.
- Complete high-quality, defensible documentation in the electronic medical record and assure continuation of the therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs.
Requirements:
- Education: Associate's degree in Science from an accredited 2-year PTA program
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in an outpatient setting
- Licensure: Current New York State license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Annual mandatory safety in-services and/or trainings, and Healthstream e-Learning Courses
- Adherence to patient safety 'Red Rules' and infection prevention policies

- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes
