About This Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Per Diem Staff Nurse (RN) to join our team at the North Jersey State Prison in Newark, New Jersey. As a member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality nursing care to inmates.

Job Summary

This is a per diem position, working on an as-needed basis to support the delivery of healthcare services within our correctional facility. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with experience working in correctional healthcare environments.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to inmates, prioritizing their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Conduct thorough health assessments, identifying potential health risks and developing effective care plans.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care, including physicians, specialists, and mental health providers.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account each inmate's unique needs and circumstances.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey.
  • Experience working in correctional healthcare environments, preferably in a similar setting.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Rutgers University is committed to providing its employees with a competitive compensation package, including:

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
