Job Summary

The Registered Nurse promotes and provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Demonstrates professional leadership and support to the healthcare team while providing the foundation of all patient-centered nursing care. Communicates with physicians and other nursing staff about patient needs, administering IV's and medications to aid in patient health and using medical equipment to monitor patient vital signs. Responsible for the performance of diversified nursing functions in emergency or other unpredictable situations requiring additional nursing care. Responds to emergent situations as appropriate throughout the institution. Proactively evaluates high risk patients and responds to early warning systems (EWS) consults. Manages patients requiring extensive, invasive interventions and assists with emergent respiratory support. Works independently and gives direction to other members of the health care team.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures
Communicates effectively with physicians and other healthcare team members
Administers medications and performs various medical procedures as needed
Monitors patient vital signs and responds to emergent situations
Evaluates high risk patients and responds to early warning systems (EWS) consults
Manages patients requiring extensive, invasive interventions and assists with emergent respiratory support

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Current RN licensure in Florida
Current BLS through American Heart Association
Current ACLS through American Heart Association
Current NIH Stroke Certification
Preferred minimum of two (2) years current critical care experience
Demonstrated knowledge of growth and development and possess ability to assess, interact, communicate, and care for age specific patient population
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to function well under stress
Strong medical-surgical, critical care and neuroscience clinical expertise
Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications
