Located in Bison, SD, Perkins County is seeking a highly skilled individual to join its team as a Highway Equipment Operator.

As a Highway Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy construction-grade equipment and trucks used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of county roads and bridges. Your tasks may include:

  • Operating heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, and backhoes
  • Maintaining and repairing county roads, bridges, traffic control signs, fences, and related facilities
  • Performing various tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the county's transportation infrastructure

You will work closely with the Highway Superintendent and other team members to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.

This is a full-time position requiring a Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within one year. You must be at least 18 years old and willing to work 40-60 hours per week.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within one year
  • At least 18 years old
  • Experience operating heavy construction-grade equipment and trucks
  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of road maintenance and repair
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

We offer a competitive salary of $19.00-$19.75 per hour, depending on experience.
