Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for operating radiologic/mammographic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performing routine diagnostic and interventional breast procedures according to established standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate radiology mammography equipment to produce diagnostic images of specific body areas as ordered for interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including instructing and supervising radiography students in clinical practicum.
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies, and report any equipment problems or malfunctions to the manager or lead technologist in a timely fashion.
  • Enter proper exam coding, arrive and complete exams in a timely fashion, and comply with all MQSA and ACR standards for mammography.
  • Accurately utilize the PACS system to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • Monitor exposure to the pregnant patient and create a minimum number of exceptions.
  • Prepare patients using proper positioning and immobilizing patients, and give them clear and concise instructions regarding the procedure.
Requirements
  • Technical Diploma or Graduate of AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • New York State license.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification.
  • Advanced Certification in Mammography.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Radiologic Technology.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Full knowledge of radiology and breast imaging equipment and radiation physics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiology program or related health field.
