Job Title: Tax Manager

Job Summary:

As a key member of our team at Rainmaker Resources, LLC, the Tax Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's compliance with all indirect taxes and licensing requirements. This position involves working closely with our construction teams to maintain tax compliance, establish effective goals, and train tax professionals on relevant guidance.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage a team of indirect tax professionals to maintain tax compliance and ensure timely completion of tax returns.
  • Establish and communicate clear goals to meet tax deadlines, ensuring seamless collaboration with construction teams.
  • Provide training to tax team members on evolving indirect tax guidance, ensuring they stay up-to-date with the latest regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings, efficiency, and overpayment, and implement measures to optimize tax compliance.
  • Set up projects for tax purposes in our ERP system to ensure proper taxation of purchases and monitor sales and use tax rate changes nationwide.
  • Process transactional tax returns, including sales and use, gross receipts, and business taxes, in compliance with state and local tax laws.
  • Monitor and analyze invoices to ensure proper taxation and communicate with Business Unit coworkers regarding tax laws and rates.
  • File property tax returns for the company and work with external accountants to apportion income to various jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate tax audits and inquiries, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal disruption to business operations.


Requirements and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred.
  • Transactional tax experience and knowledge of construction industry practices are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is essential.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and research skills are required to succeed in this role.
  • The ability to work cooperatively with internal and external customers, prioritize tasks, and work independently is crucial.
