Fleet Road Equipment Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic Lead to join our team at US Foods, Inc. in a challenging and rewarding role.
About the JobThis position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fleet road equipment while ensuring compliance with trucking regulations.
Key duties include:
- Performing preventative maintenance within company standards
- Completing repair documentation, including logs for all repairs and parts used daily
- Providing road rescue services as needed
The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
ResponsibilitiesThe Diesel Mechanic Lead will be responsible for:
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing all required repairs on diesel equipment
- Performing preventative maintenance within company standards
- Completing documentation of all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability
- Handling road service calls and performing road rescue/transport equipment as needed
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines
- Maintaining inventory and proper recordkeeping
- Backing up other maintenance shop personnel
- Assuming increased responsibility and certifications as needed
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- 3 years of commercial diesel mechanic or reefer experience, or 2 years of diesel mechanic experience with TK or refrigeration certification
- Demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in administering an appropriate PM program
- Able to furnish own personal hand tools
- Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations pertaining to the shop and fleet
- Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals
- Excellent communication skills, able to communicate with coworkers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs
- Computer and software experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Will to work overtime when needed
The salary for this position starts at $32 per hour, plus a $10,000 retention bonus. We also offer an annual tool allowance, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, and benefits starting day one.
