Key Responsibilities and Expectations of the Job

Welcoming and preparing patients for dental treatment, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment
Preparing treatment rooms in advance, including instruments, radiographs, handpieces, charts, and supplies
Assisting dentists during procedures, using four-handed techniques, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace
Communicating effectively with patients, providing post-treatment instructions, and addressing their concerns
Recording patient information, including examination results and progress notes
Performing basic laboratory procedures, such as custom tray fabrication, occlusal guard creation, and diagnostic cast preparation
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including treatment rooms, laboratory, and central sterilization areas
Preparing and maintaining equipment, instruments, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition
Performing routine maintenance on dental equipment, including handpieces, autoclaves, and x-ray developers
Taking impressions and bite registrations, as directed by the treating dentist
Placing and removing orthodontic appliances, as directed by the treating dentist

Other Responsibilities

Accompanying dentists on field trips throughout the year, providing support and care to patients in remote areas
Participating in community prevention activities, such as school screenings, health fairs, and oral health programs
Providing administrative support, including answering phones, managing appointment books, and maintaining patient flow in the absence of the receptionist
Performing other duties as assigned by management

Requirements and Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Certifications: CPR certificate preferred
Experience: None required
Knowledge and Skills: Chair-side dental assisting, dental radiology, infection control, strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to: Communicate effectively with patients and staff, follow instructions, and provide excellent patient care

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
