Job Description

Veterinary Hospital at the Lake offers a unique opportunity for a veterinarian to join our team as a theriogenologist and general practitioner.

Our hospital provides full-service small animal care to Sherrills Ford, NC and surrounding communities.

We are home to the region's only referral specialty center for small animal reproduction, staffed by board-certified specialists in theriogenology who partner with breeder clients and primary care veterinarians to provide expertise and compassionate care in male and female reproduction and neonatology.

The ideal candidate will have skills in SA general medicine and surgery, a passion for theriogenology, and be willing to embrace the world of purpose-bred dogs. Mentorship and on-the-job training will be provided, and efforts at board certification will be supported.

  • Situated at the northwest corner of Lake Norman in North Carolina, our hospital sits near the banks of a lovely lake, close to Charlotte (with an international airport), and within an hour's drive from Asheville & the Blue Ridge mountains and 3.5 hours from the beach.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples, interpreting results to inform treatment decisions.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options, providing counsel around pet end-of-life care.
  • Maintain patients' medical records, ensuring compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD registration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds, with assistance for heavier loads.
