Become a key member of our accounting team at Stites & Harbison, PLLC, a leading full-service law firm in Louisville, Kentucky. As a Billing Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our accounting team.

This is a non-exempt, full-time position with excellent benefits. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with a natural passion for math and a willingness to learn about the billing process.

Under the direction of the Billing Manager, you will prepare and process billing invoices from pre-stage to final invoicing for our firm clients. This is not a remote position, and we only consider candidates within commuting distance of our office.

We offer a business casual atmosphere that promotes a positive work environment for all employees. As a Billing Specialist, you will collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, and others to generate prebills, monitor unbilled time, and ensure timely billing and collections.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, and others to generate prebills, monitor unbilled time, and ensure timely billing and collections.
  • Make edits to prebills per partner instructions, including time descriptions, transfers, and write-down/off of unbilled time/costs in conformity with firm policy.
  • Show tenacity and drive in following up with Billing Partners and others to resolve client billing issues and ensure invoices are approved and billed.
  • Reconcile and maintain client accounts and accrual schedules.
  • Review prebills and follow up with attorneys to ensure that entries are posted to correct matters.
  • Edit and translate prebills into bills using the 3E system.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in Elite, 3E, or ADERANT
  • Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
  • Superb time management skills and detail orientation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and partner information
