Job Overview

We are seeking highly skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to support the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. The successful candidate will conduct and manage anesthesia for complex surgical procedures, adapting techniques to optimize patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts and manages anesthesia for a wide range of complex surgical procedures.
  • Adapts/modifies anesthesia techniques to optimize patient care.
  • Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids and drugs, and using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Blends technology, skills, and competencies to advance anesthesia techniques, pharmacology, and equipment.
  • Applies new developments and theories to develop and demonstrate the ability to recognize and solve complex anesthesia situations.
  • Practices nurse anesthesia with colleagues and peers in a team concept of anesthesia care, blending management skills with technical experience.
  • Recognizes clinical and technical aspects of anesthesia care and has in-depth knowledge of anesthesia methods and techniques.
  • Mentors, precepts, or educates others in didactic and clinical instruction for graduate-level nurse anesthesia students and/or other anesthesia care providers.
  • Participates in developing anesthesia patient care audit processes involving in-depth review and analysis of anesthesia records.
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Must have a degree in nursing from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate state accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies: National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
