Women's Housing Advocate Opportunity

The Downtown Women's Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Women's Housing Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing direct services to women experiencing homelessness, including case management, crisis intervention, and housing support. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct services to women experiencing homelessness, including case management, crisis intervention, and housing support.
- Work closely with program staff, interns, and volunteers to ensure effective program management and delivery of services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community service providers, including hospitals, shelters, and social service agencies.
- Participate in individual and group supervision, trainings, and meetings to ensure ongoing professional development and best practices.
- Maintain accurate and timely data records of activities, case management notes, and financial assistance and other services provided to each client.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a comprehensive and client-centered approach to service delivery.
- Participate in community outreach and engagement activities to promote the Downtown Women's Center's services and programs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience working with homeless populations, preferably in a direct service capacity.
- Strong knowledge of the complexity of poverty and women's homelessness, including mental illness, trauma, and substance abuse.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in crisis situations.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working in a multi-service agency or similar shelter or day center environment.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices, such as Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction.
- Knowledge of the Los Angeles County system of care and resources for homeless populations.
Salary and Benefits:
The Downtown Women's Center offers a competitive salary of $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and holidays.
