Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychologist to join our team at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. As a Psychologist, you will provide psychological services to youth involved with the SC Department of Juvenile Justice, including evaluation and consultation services. You will work closely with our team to provide high-quality services to our clients and contribute to the mission of the SC DJJ.
Responsibilities:
* Provide evaluation services, including clinical interviews with youth and family members, record reviews, and consultations with DJJ County Office staff and other agencies involved with youth being evaluated.
* Administer and interpret psychological tests and measures, prepare reports, and provide expert testimony in Family Court as required by attorneys or judges.
* Conduct waiver evaluations, which must be conducted by doctoral-level, licensed psychologists.
* Participate in DJJ treatment planning and interagency staffing, consult in cases of youth with special needs, and consult with DJJ County Office staff regarding problematic issues/cases.
* Provide consultation to DJJ staff regarding youth involved with DJJ and attend to administrative matters, including relevant and/or mandatory trainings related to DJJ position.
Requirements:
* A doctorate in applied psychology from an accredited college or university and experience in applied psychology.
* Thorough knowledge of current psychological theory/practice, psychological evaluation/assessment techniques with children/adolescents/families, and some knowledge of forensic psychological issues in Family Court.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
* Ability to work and communicate effectively with youth, families, staff, and other entities.
* Ability to work in a secured facility setting as needed, as some evaluations are with incarcerated youth.
* Ability to lift 25 lbs and work varied hours, and able to travel with some overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications:
* A doctoral degree in applied psychology from an APA-approved program in psychology and possession of a current license to practice psychology in the State of South Carolina or license eligibility within two years.
