Laboratory Supervisor/Off-Shift Evening Position

The Off-Shift Laboratory Supervisor plays a critical role in the success of the Clinical Pathology department at South Shore Health. Reporting to the Core Laboratory Manager, this individual will oversee the operation of the laboratory on evening and night shifts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services in accordance with established policies, standards, and testing procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise all work performed on the off-shifts, including reviewing test results, organizing workflow, assigning and prioritizing tasks as needed.
2. Perform all duties of a Medical Technologist/Technician, troubleshooting instrumentation and procedures to maintain efficient workflow.
3. Schedule work assignments and plan work schedules of employees to ensure consistent and adequate coverage of the laboratory.
4. Orient new employees, train existing staff on new procedures, instruments, or methods, and maintain records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
5. Supervise employees on the evening and night shift, assuming complete on-call responsibility for the laboratory on rotating weekends, holidays, and as needed.
Requirements
Baccalaureate degree in a relevant science, such as Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry, with Medical Technologist certification (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
Minimum of five years of laboratory experience and one year of supervisory experience preferred.
