Job Summary:

This position provides care, custody, and control of residents on the assigned unit. The Residential Program Specialist Lead works under the direction of a Residential Program Specialist III and completes program assignments in a timely and productive manner. The position interacts with residents in a helping role, provides activities, and assists with orientation to the milieu. The Specialist observes residents for unusual behavior, documents information, and writes incident reports. The position participates in crisis intervention and behavior management procedures, responds to incidents, and consults with clinical staff. The Specialist carries out security duties, inspects resident rooms, and searches for contraband. The position provides resident escorts, encourages recreational activities, and participates in unit shift meetings.

Responsibilities:

- Serve as the lead RPS staff for the unit(s) with responsibility for directing daily unit/program activities.
- Assist in orientation and training of Residential Program Specialist I's in carrying out specific job duties.
- Interact with residents in a helping role, provide activities, and assist with orientation to the milieu.
- Compile information, document in electronic medical records, and write incident reports in proper format.
- Provide resident escorts, receive requests, and review rules and policies with residents.
- Assist residents in orientation to the milieu, observe for unusual behavior, and participate in crisis intervention procedures.

Requirements:

- One year experience as a Residential Program Specialist I or 3 years of experience with the care of psychiatric patients, residents, or inmates in a behavioral management program, forensic mental health setting, or correctional mental health program, or 60 semester hours toward a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social, behavioral, and 1 year experience in a related field.
- Possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S. 41-1758.07 or apply for a level one clearance fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment.
- Be able to provide verification of a High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalence, or similar credential.
- Be able to obtain and maintain CPR and NVCI certification.
