Job Summary:
The Hillman (Chuleador) is responsible for assisting with grading and earthmoving operations on construction sites, ensuring proper site preparation and maintaining grade specifications. This role requires a skilled and experienced individual to work closely with the grading crew to ensure site preparation meets project specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with the operation of heavy equipment, including bulldozers, graders, and excavators, to achieve precise grading and earthmoving tasks.
• Use grade stakes and other reference points to guide equipment operators and maintain proper grade alignment.
• Communicate effectively with the crew and site supervisors to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues.
• Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or necessary repairs.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
• Physical ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, standing, and operating equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment safety.
• Experience with heavy equipment operation, particularly in grading and earthmoving.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Requirements:
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals to compute rate, ratio, percent.

• Ability to work on weekends, public holidays, and at night.
• Ability to travel to wherever the job is needed.
• Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
• Maintain constant alertness to multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
• Sufficient skill and visual acuity, under varying degrees of light, darkness, and weather conditions.
• Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust, which is typically associated with a construction project.
• Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
