Job Description

Central Penn College invites applications for part-time faculty for the Physical Therapy Assistant Program, commencing in the near future. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Teaching PTA core classes for the evening program.
  • Courses are taught on-ground, Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30-9:30 p.m., for an 11-week term.
  • Preferred knowledge of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, as course responsibilities will be Therapeutic Exercise and Neurological Rehabilitation.
  • Keeping grade and attendance records, preparing required reports consistent with accreditation requirements and college policies and procedures.
  • Preparing lesson plans, classroom presentations and student assignments.
  • Monitoring and maintaining lab equipment and inventory.
  • Actively participating in College committees, community service/volunteer work to serve as a role model.

Requirements

  • A PTA with an earned bachelor's degree in a related field or a Physical Therapist with a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree.
  • Licensed/certified or eligible for licensure/certification in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Three years clinical experience in physical therapy.
  • Preferred teaching experience (in-service, clinical, continuing education, academic).
  • Competence by demonstrating knowledge, skills, safety, and effectiveness in the delivery of care.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • Strong written and oral communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
  • Effective communication skills with students as demonstrated by clearly articulating expectations, providing, and receiving constructive feedback, and actively listening.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy.
