About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Project Manager to join our team at the American Medical Association. This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in our Chicago office, with the option to work remotely.

Job Description

The successful candidate will provide senior project management and analytic skills to lead the implementation of high-profile projects and programs. They will be responsible for ensuring business requirements are translated into cost-effective technology solutions that align with our strategic roadmap. Additionally, this person will help manage and mentor IT staff, creating a highly effective working team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage medium to highly complex projects or programs, maintaining project plans, status, and issues.
  • Create and maintain project plans, report status, and track and resolve issues.
  • Effectively track and manage all financial aspects of the project, delivering projects on time and within budget while meeting quality standards.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and be conversant in current methodologies (Agile, Waterfall...).
Requirements:
  1. A 4-year degree preferred or equivalent work experience required.
  2. Minimum 7 years of IT project management, strategic planning, work scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, financial management, and status reporting experience.
  3. Strong knowledge and experience using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  4. Ability to guide technical staff and project managers on project tasks.
  5. PMP Certification preferred.
  6. Experience in vendor management, negotiating and managing contracts, evaluating technologies, and authorizing Requests for Proposals.
  7. Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  8. Excellent presentation skills, with experience communicating with stakeholders in both technical and non-technical fields.
