The role of Food Service Operations Manager at Catholic Health Services involves overseeing the planning, organization, and direction of food production, preparation, and service for our healthcare system. This position is responsible for establishing policies, procedures, and departmental objectives while supervising personnel and functions related to food service. Collaboration with Registered Dieticians is essential in creating menus and monitoring diets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine staff responsibilities within their scope of abilities.
  • Collaborate with Administrators to discuss escalated matters, receive direction, and establish timeframes for planned activities.
  • Attend daily, weekly, and/or monthly management team meetings to discuss patient status, census changes, or patient complaints.
  • Evaluate employees accurately and objectively on a timely basis.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the dining service program that adhere to food service regulations.
  • Monitor monthly expenditures and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Supervise all dietary functions and personnel, ensuring excellence in service and quality of products.
  • Respond to customer complaints according to Dining protocols.
  • Manage food purchase, production, and timely service of meals.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization in work areas, adhering to sanitation schedules and equipment maintenance.
  • Inspect kitchen staff attire and maintain a clean dress code.
  • May assist with tray line duties during mealtimes as needed.
  • Coordinate food preparation for special events.
  • Comply with completion of department orientation checklists for new hires.

Ongoing Duties

  • Promote positive employee engagement, teamwork, respect, and safe working practices.
  • Provide necessary orientation to new employees.
  • Maintain required licenses, certifications, and skills updates.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by superiors.

Management Oversight

  • This role may serve as an interim department leader based on business needs.

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and location. A Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management or hospitality, including coursework in food service or restaurant management, is required. 3-5 years of LTC/SNF experience and excellent communication skills are also necessary.
