Migrant Counselor

The Migrant Counselor is a vital member of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District team, responsible for providing guidance and support to migrant students. This role requires a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by migrant students and the ability to develop and implement effective strategies to address these issues.

• Provide individual and group counseling to migrant students to help them achieve academic success and overcome personal challenges.
• Develop and implement guidance programs to support migrant students, including career awareness, academic planning, and social-emotional support.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other counselors to ensure that migrant students receive comprehensive support and services.
• Assist migrant students in making informed decisions about their academic and career paths.
• Provide support and resources to migrant students and their families to help them navigate the school system and access community resources.

• Masters degree in guidance and counseling or related field.
• Valid Texas counseling certificate.
• Strong knowledge of migrant education rules and regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Experience working with migrant students and families.

The Migrant Counselor will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, requiring strong organizational and time management skills. The ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality is essential.
