Financial Professional with Patient Financial Services Expertise

We are seeking a skilled Financial Counselor to join our team at Rutland Regional Medical Center. In this role, you will play a critical part in identifying payer sources for uninsured and underinsured patients, as well as determining patient financial responsibility for services and collecting co-pays, deductibles, and deposits prior to scheduled services.
About the RoleThis position serves as a liaison between the patient, physician, hospital, and payers. You will work closely with these stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
Responsibilities- Review patients' billing information in-person or over the phone to explain financial assistance programs and assist with insurance enrollment when applicable.
- Interpret and apply policy and regulation as they relate to healthcare programs.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in a related field (healthcare, business, sociology, etc.) or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in a related field, with a demonstrated ability to exercise high levels of confidentiality.
- Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certification, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Moderate knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills.
- Math skills to calculate income, balances, and deposits.
The salary range for this position is $16.94 - $25.15 per hour, depending on experience.
