The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking a talented Electric Propulsion and Power Systems Engineer to join its Undersea Systems Office.

This role involves designing cutting-edge electric and hybrid electric propulsion and power systems for undersea vehicles, including system requirements identification, detailed design stages, hardware testing and integration with larger systems.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of CAD tools, experience working within a technical team, and hands-on experience with electronics concepts.

Preferred skills include experience with simulation and control software, mechanical and electrical CAD tools, battery management systems, and high voltage training.

The working location will be fully on-site in State College, PA, with occasional travel to remote locations for field testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electric and hybrid electric propulsion and power systems for undersea vehicles
  • Collaborate with the technical team to integrate systems and ensure seamless operation
  • Conduct hardware testing and validation to ensure system performance and safety

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in power electronics or related field
  • Knowledge of CAD tools and experience with simulation and control software

Salary Range: $76,000 - $129,500 per year
