Infection Prevention Specialist

Job Summary:
Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a skilled Infection Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our infection control team, you will be responsible for maintaining current knowledge of infection prevention standards and implementing practices that promote infection prevention and control.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain current knowledge of infection prevention standards and implement practices that promote infection prevention and control.
- Use a systematic approach to monitor the effectiveness of infection prevention and control strategies.
- Assist with development of an Infection Control Plan and devise an Infection Control Risk Assessment.
- Analyze results of surveillance, special studies, or other data collected for determination of infections and provide reports of data to appropriate departments.
- Provide education, collaborate, and be a resource to staff and patients/families to ensure information that impacts infection prevention is understood and practiced.
- Maintain knowledge regarding the infection prevention needs of specialized patient populations, patient equipment, and building conditions that impact patient and staff health.
- Provide leadership and coordination of the activities of the Infection Control Committee, providing knowledge, performance improvement initiatives, and advocacy to maintain infection control practices for patient and staff safety.
- Monitor and ensure the quality of healthcare, providing leadership for collaborative outcomes and research projects, participating in quality improvement activities and hospital committees, making infection control rounds to identify problems and implement solutions, and providing after-hours coverage for questions regarding infections, isolation precautions, and infection control practices.
Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) Required. Florida State or Compact License required.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 3 years of hire into the position.
- 5 years of work experience in a related field (e.g. Nursing).
- Current licensure in the State of Florida as a registered nurse.
Salary Range: $36.14 - $56.01 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
